Some wild animals guarding the gift table at my sons' zoo birthday party.
A small stuff animal that has the party information pinned to the fur is fun to receive.
Hang "Please Don't Feed the Animals" signs in a few areas that the animals are occupying. Use file folders cut into two pieces to make the signs. There is a small do not feed the animal in the picture below.
Here is one of the many animal cages that we made for the party. Put the animal into the box and taped it shut. Wrap the box in white paper. Carefully cut out sections on the front and back to create bars. You can reach through the bars and set the animal upright if you need to.
Make animal paw prints with black construction paper. Tape them to the floor or walls. Make large bear prints heading towards a closet. Post a Do Not Enter sign on the door.
Peanut Toss:
Put a container in the middle of the floor. Give each guest five peanuts to toss into the container. Each peanut is worth a point. The person with the most points wins.
Feed the Lion
Supplies needed: Coat hanger, 6 paper plates, stapler, green tissue paper, brown paint and white typing paper.
Make hamburgers with the paper plates.
Paint the bottom of the plates brown. Place a piece of green tissue paper between two plates so that it hangs over the edges. Staple the plates around the rim.
Form a circular shape with the coat hanger. Cut the typing paper into triangles and tape onto the coat hanger so that they hang into the opening. These triangles are the lions teeth! His mouth is open very wide, so you don't have to worry about trying to make it look like a lions face!
Hang the lions mouth in the center of a doorway by wrapping string around the hanger and taping it to the top of the door frame.
Each guest tries to toss the hamburger into the lions mouth. If they can do it they get a point. Person with the most points wins.
Bake a cake and parade animal crackers around the rim of it.
Bake cupcakes, frost in bright colors and top off with a frosted animal cracker.
