Valentine FlowersSending Valentine Flowers can be stressful. Use these tips to reduce some of the stress in ordering and sending your sweatheart flowersPeople expect a lot from a florist. Orders need to look good, be cost effective and delivered on time. You can get great results with any florist by following a few tips when placing your orders for Valentines Day or any other holiday.
Order EarlyPlace your order for Valentine flowers a week or two in advance. If you want flowers that are out of season or not popular for the holiday, ordering early will give the florist a chance to locate those flowers for you. Ordering at the last minute means that you will get whatever flowers the florist has left in stock, they won't be able to give you the freshest flowers in your arrangement.
State Exactly What You WantDo you want to send roses? Do they have to be red roses? You might look at this page on rose color symbolism to see what different color roses mean. Greenery and Baby's Breath are not always included in an arrangement. Ask the florist what fillers they offer in an arrangement. Don't assume you get roses plus filler material! Vases come in many shapes and colors. The majority of arrangements will be sent in clear vases. If you want a red or blue vase, you'll want to let the florist know.
There are many flowers you can send besides roses!
Be Prepared: Have the correct information handyFor the recipient:Full name (correct spelling of the last name) Address (house number, street, city and zip code) Phone numbers (home and work numbers with area codes)
Your information
How Ordering WorksYou call up your florist to send an order out of town to a relative, here's what typically happens and why placing orders early is important. They take your information for the order and after you hang up they start the processing. Your florist will check a nationwide list to find a florist that is in or close to the town your recipient lives in. Once they locate the closest florist they check to see if your order meets the minimum required order amount. If it doesn't, you'll have to increase your order to meet that requirement. They check to see if that florist has openings for deliveries. Small cities with only a florist or two can get bogged down quickly during the holidays, and shut down deliveries entirely. This leaves you with no way to send flowers in that town. The order is assembled by the florist who is doing the delivery. Floral arrangements typically are not sent across state lines, so if you use a local florist to send orders out of state, your local florist is not making that arrangement. The florist making the arrangement might not have the same flowers in stock that your local florist does. Orders received for holiday deliveries are typically made the day before they are to be delivered and stored in a cooler. The florist divides their delivery area into sections such as section A, section B etc... All arrangements for section A are then sorted into morning or afternoon delivery. Any arrangements going to section A for morning delivery are loaded onto a truck/van and the driver heads out. Guaranteed Delivery TimesSome florists will offer morning delivery or afternoon delivery for your Valentine flowers. Exact time delivery isn't likely to happen just because of the sheer volume of flowers being sent on Valentines Day.
