Toys For ChristmasToys For Christmas. It's what every child and even some adults wish for.
Shopping for toys is fun, but it can also be overwhelming. There are so many to chose from. How do you decide what to get Billy and Sally?
Toys For Christmas vs ClothingA gift comes from the heart and regardless of what it is the person on the receiving end should be thankful the gift giver thought of them. That works 364 days of the year, but on Christmas, kids want toys. I don't think there is anything wrong with that, heck even I want toys rather than clothes! If you don't know what type of toys to buy for a child, give a gift certificate to a local department store.
Dealing With The Safety RecallsA large number of toys have been recalled lately, but you have to consider how many are made each year. The recalls cover a small percentage of the overall production. There are still plenty of toys out there that are safe to purchase. Before purchasing toys, you will want to take a look at the Government Recall List so that you don't buy any that are on the list. If you know you want to get Sally a doll, make a list of all the dolls that are on the list and take it with you to the store or double check the list before purchasing the doll online. The same goes for any toys you want to purchase, it only takes a few minutes to be informed.
Age Does MatterKnow the age of the child you are buying for. This may seem like common sense, but neices and nephews do get older between visits! Billy won't be too excited if you purchase a toddler toy for him when he's now twelve!Consider if there are younger children in the house. A toy for Sally that has lots of tiny pieces might not be appropriate if she has a one year old little sister that still puts everything into her mouth.
Batteries Not IncludedTake a few minutes to read the toy package to see if batteries are needed for the toy to operate. Purchase a package of batteries to give with the toy.For young children and toddlers it might be best to put the batteries into the toy and test them before wrapping them. This also allows you to remove the packaging wires and tape that manufacturers love putting into the boxes.
