This Thanksgiving placemat craft for kids is fun to make. Adults will also enjoy making a placemat or two.
Contruction Paper
Colorful Leaves
Scissors
Self-Laminating Sheet
(most office supply stores carry these, you'll want to get the letter size ones)
Assembly Instructions:
1. Open the lamination sheet and center the construction paper on the transparent sheet. There are crop marks at the top and bottom to use as placement guides. Keeping the paper centered, remove the liner strip to expose the adhesive edge. Close the back sheet over the consstruction paper. Press the edge down to lock the paper in place.
2. Turn the whole thing over and lift the transparent sheet. This side of the construction paper is the one you'll be decorating with leaves. The large adhesive part of the laminating sheet should be at the back of your placemat.
3. Arrange the leaves on the construction paper in a design that is pleasant to you. If your leaves have hard stem pieces on them, cut those off so the leaves lay flat.
4. Once you have your placemat design done, carefully close the transparent sheet over your design and press down on it with a ruler or straight edge to flatten your design.
5. Carefully lift the placemat and flip it over so the leaf design is now facing the table and the opening of the lamination sheets is on your left.
6. Carefully lift the directions/adhesive sheet away from the construction paper so you can get to the inside bottom edge of the instruction sheet. Starting at the lower left corner, slowly pull the instruction sheet out while sliding a ruler over the transparent parts that are being exposed. This helps prevent wrinkles and air bubbles from forming.
7. When the instruction sheet is completely removed. Go over the placemat another time or two with the ruler to make sure all the edges are secure.
Wasn't that one of the easiest Thanksgiving crafts to make?
