Feather Items*

Head Material**

Wattle Item***

Decorations (optional)

*Feather Items; you can use colorful leaves from your trees, feathers from a craft store, artificial leaves or even construction paper.

**Head Material; the head is the hardest part to pull off on a pinecone turkey. You can use a a small piece from a brown lunch bag, crumpled up and formed into a neck and head. You can used a circle cut from construction paper, or a small styrofoam ball that has been painted brown.

***Wattle; the red piece that hangs from a turkeys neck can be made from small chili peppers, red construction paper, seed pods painted red or even felt or yarn.

Decorations you may want to add to the Thanksgiving pinecone turkey are glitter, a couple of wiggle eyes, or even a place card for seating guests at the Thanksgiving dinner table.

Assembly Instructions:

1. Glue feathers into place around the back end of the pinecone.

2. Glue the head into place at the front of the pinecone. Glue on eyes, you can use wiggle eyes or even pieces of corn. I used a bundle of dried grass folded to form an L-shape as the head and neck for my turkey.

3. Glue the wattle to the neck of your turkey. I used a long seed pod spray painted red for the wattle.

4. Add decorations. For the napkin around the turkeys' neck I used a fat leaf and just trimmed it to fit around his neck.

Pinecone craft projects are a great way to keep the kids occupied during the days before Thanksgiving Day.
