St Patrick Day CraftsSt Patrick Day Crafts are fun. Make this cute little leprechaun to watch over your pot of gold.
Supplies Needed Per Leprechaun:These St Patrick Day crafts instructions don't include the empty pot of gold the leprechaun is holding. If you want to include that you will need two of the fruit containers and a black pipe cleaner.
To view these coloring pages and templates, you will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer (the latest version is recommended).
St Patrick Day Crafts InstructionsStep 1 Create The Body Fold one sheet of the green construction paper in half with long ends together.Draw a line across the length of the paper 1 ½ inches down from the open end. Draw lines spaced 1" apart from the fold of the page to the horizontal pencil line you made.
Step 2 While the paper is still folded, cut the vertical lines (the ones that are spaced 1" apart ) up to but not over the horizontal line.Don't worry if the pencil lines are showing. Trying to erase them on construction paper can rub the paper into shreds. Carefully unfold the paper.
Step 3 Bring the short ends of the unfolded paper together to form a tube shape. This is the body of your leprechaun. Glue, staple or tape the ends together. Set the body aside.
Step 4 Creating ArmsCut two 1" x 8½" pieces from the second piece of green construction paper. Accordian fold the strips. Cut two hands from the scrap of pink construction paper and glue to the ends of the green strips.
Step 5 Putting the Head TogetherGlue orange curly hair to the top of the pink ball. To make orange curly hair I took white hair and place it into a ziploc bag and poured orange tempra paint into it. Squish the paint around in the bag so that it covers all the hair. Set it aside until dry or blow dry it.
Glue wiggle eyes to the pink face. Add a mouth using a black marker or a small piece of string.
Step 6 Making The HatUsing a black marker color the outside of the fruit container. Using a permanent marker works much better than tempra paint does. While the fruit container is drying. Cut a circle out of the black paper using the face circle from the template as a guide. Glue the fruit container to the center of the black circle. Glue a tiny square of yellow paper to the hat to resemble a buckle. Glue a smaller black square onto the yellow square.
Step 7 Finishing The LeprechaunGlue the hat to the head of your leprechaun, making sure that the buckle is aimed towards the face. (can't have the little guy wearing his hat backwards!)Glue the head to the body of the leprechaun. Glue the arms to the sides of the body.
Using a 12" piece of green ribbon and tie it into a knot. Centering the knot as you pull the pieces tight.
Untwist the ends and fan them out to create the bow. You may need to trim the ends for a nice fit. Glue to the leprechaun.
