A space party can be held during the day or in the evening for a night of star gazing.

Space Party Invitations

A fun and easy party invitation to make. If you need help making this invitation see instructions on how this one was done at astronomy birthday invitation.

This space party invitation is a basic rocket ship shaped. It was cut out with the fold at the top of the rocket. The outer edges were highlighted with a black line to show the shape better in the picture and probably wouldn't be necessary in person.

Space Decorations

Hang planets and stars around the party area.
Use plastic balls of various sizes and tape fishing line to them. Cover completely with foil wrap and hang from the ceiling.

Glow in the dark stars and planets would be fun to attach to walls in the cake room. Turn down the lights when you light the candles on the cake for a starlight celebration.

Planet Scramble

The letters of the planets and stars are all mixed up. Can you be the first to unscramble them?
Here's a free printable space party scramble all ready set for you to use at the party. Just print out one for each guest and let the fun begin.

Save the Planet

Supplies Needed:
Balls of various sizes
2 laundry baskets
2 boxes.

Fill each basket with balls.
Divide the group into two teams.
Place the baskets on one side of the room and the teams and boxes on the other.
On the word "Go" the first person in line has to run to the laundry basket, get a planet(ball) and place it into the box.
First team to save all the planets win.

Fun Space Projects

Build a Saturn Model with these easy to follow instructions. Make a batch of them as party decorations or let the boys make them as a party craft!

Space coloring book has some fun to color pictures of the space shuttle. This can be used at the start of the party as guests are arriving or printed out and given as a party favor.

Make a rocket from materials found around the house or easily obtained. You could do this at the party, but I'd make the rockets ahead of time as they can take a little while. The printout would be good as a party favor.

The Big Dipper

The Big Dipper is a group of seven stars that are shaped like a cup with a long handle.

There is also a Little Dipper but it's not always easy to see. The North Star is the last star in handle of the little dipper.
