Gentlemen Start Your Engines...
Racing theme party ahead

You'll be a winner with this Racing theme party. Cars are exciting for boys. Make sure to check out the cool cake at the bottom of the page.

When my son was nine the car I drove was a Mustang pace car replica complete with racing stripes and pace car decals. His friends loved it and so did he.
During one of his sleepover birthday parties the boys were getting wild so I tossed them the keys. They went nuts...all of them piled into the car and pretended to be driving. (it was a stick and they couldn't reach the pedals so I knew it was safe) They turned every knob they could get a hold of and took turns driving. It was fun watching them.

Racing theme party Invitations:

A fun invitation idea for this Racing theme party would be to get small race cars and attach the party information to them. Use black construction paper to make a ticket sized rectangle, write the party information onto a name tag label and place it onto the construction paper. Punch a hole into it and use twine to attach to the race car. Mail in a small box.

Make a checkered flag invitation. Take white card stock and mark off 1/2 x 1/2 squares on the front. You would then color in every other square with a black marker. Use alphabet stickers to personalize the invitation with something like " Ryan is Racing towards his teens" and then on the inside put the rest of the party information.

Racing theme party Decorations:

Make the table look like a road. Take a black or grey tablecloth, use white electrical tape to make dotted lines down the center of it. Just like you find on a highway. You might also be able to find some inexpensive fabric at your local sewing store.

A black and white checkered tablecoth would be a perfect fit for this Racing theme party.

Decorate your front entrance with black and white balloons. Use air rather than helium to fill them. If you have a porch or metal awning support this will be easy. Make bunches of balloons by taking two black and two white balloons with strings. Tape the strings of all four together near the neck of the balloons. Tie the strings tightly around the metal awning. Continue this up and down the awning support covering both sides of the walk.

For indoors you can get a little more fancy with the balloons. Here are some fun Racing theme party balloons. A package of forty assorted black and white balloons with racing flags printed on them.

Decorate the room with racing flags. You can find black and white checkered fabric at any fabric store and cut it into 10x12 inch rectangles to form the flags. Tape some to the walls and doors around the party area. Staple some to dowel rods and place into your house plants or use to line the front yard.

Hot Wheels™ Kit-N-Kaboodle Party kit for 8 includes Invitations, 7" Dessert Plates, 9 oz. All the tableware that you need for a Racing theme party in one box and delivered right to your door. No need go running all over town to find what you need. Have it delivered to your door.

Find some race car pictures in magazines, buy a magazine at the store if you need to. Cut out the pictures from the ads and articles, mount on construction paper and tape to the walls.

Flag Race:
Make a small fabric checkered flag for every guest. Get checkered fabric at your local sewing store or make your own with an old pillow case and some black markers. Cut the fabric into 12x12 squares and then cut those on the diagonal to form a triangular flag shape. Each boy puts the flag into their back pocket so that most of it is sticking out. Have the boys get into a tight circle with their arms raised above their heads. On the word "go" the boys break out of the circle and try to capture other boys' flags. The one who gets the most flags wins.

Car Race
Supplies needed: balloon racer, some tape.
Give each boy one of the racers. Mark off a straight race track with the tape approximately 10 foot long. Two boys at a time will set their cars at a start line and race to the end of the road. The car that makes it the furthest while staying on the track wins that race and gets to race the next person. Races continue until everyone has had a turn.
