Quilting Bee
Host a Quilting Bee and produce a quality gift. You'll have so much fun, this might turn into a monthly or annual project!

Use the party to make a baby quilt for a friend or make lap quilts to donate to a hospital or homeless shelter.
Make the projects you work on ahead of time and use the party for decorative quilting.
Invitation Ideas
Use plain card stock and glue pieces of fabric to the front in a crazy quilt pattern.
You could also write the party information on a piece of muslin and pin it to the inside of a strip of fabric. Roll the fabric up and tie with a ribbon. Hand deliver the invitation.
Setting Up
Have small lap quilts sewn together before the party. Provide each guest with quilting thread, needles and a thimble.
Provide comfortable seating in a well lighted area. Music playing softly in the background is optional.
Activities
The quilts should already be sewn together. The main activity for the party will be to put decorative stitching on the quilts. This stitching keeps the batting from slipping around and holds the front and back fabrics together.
Hire someone to come to the party and show hand quilting skills if everyone is new to sewing.
Food and Drinks
Crumb cakes, fancy cookies or tarts would be a welcome treat.
Serve coffee and tea for drinks.
