Play Dough Party

Create a fun time for all with a play dough party.

playdough fun

For this party, you'll need a large table the kids can play at and lots of play dough.

Play Dough Birthday Invitations

Send a fun shaped cookie cutter and a small can of play dough to each guest announcing your play dough party.

Have your son or daughter create an invitation using hardening clay (playdough recipe is below). Roll the dough out flat and cut into a fun shape like a birthday cake. Let the dough dry completely and glue the party information to it.

Party Decorations

Create a small birthday scene using play dough. Make a birthday cake with candles, plates, balloons and gift boxes. Place this in the center of the table.

Use bright primary colored balloons around the party area and streamers hanging over the table.

Play Dough Activities

Print out some free coloring pages for the kids to color while they wait on everyone else to show up.

The Main Activity of the party is playing with play dough. Make sure to have plenty of cookie cutters, rolling pins and dough on hand for the kids to use.

Play Dough Recipes

Clay Playdough Recipe

2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Salt
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
Food coloring

Mix all ingredients together. Knead in one or two drops of food coloring until color is pleasing. Store in plastic bags.

Hardening Playdough Recipe

2 Cups Flour
2 Cups Salt
Cool water

Mix together the flour and salt adding water a little at a time until it forms a creamy yet sturdy dough. This is great for making small beads to string for necklaces.

Squishy Fun Recipe

1 Cup Cornstarch
1/4 Cup Water
Food Coloring
Zip Lock Bag
Glitter

This makes one "squishy fun" bag. Make one for each child. You can fill the correct number of bags with cornstarch ahead of time and just add the water and food coloring during the party. This dough should stay in the bag so taping the tops is recommended. It is mainly to let the kids have fun squashing the ingredients together to create colorful shiny goo!. The mixture is nontoxic but eating it is not recommended.

Play Dough Party Food

Make a rectangular cake and frost it to look like a can of play-doh. Kids love to eat play-doh but the cake will taste much better.

You can also clean the cans from store bought play dough and serve pudding, ice cream, yogurt or jello in them.

Play Dough Art
Provide each guest with a simple outline picture like you find in coloring books.

Let each child decorate the pictures using play dough instead of crayons.

Display the pictures for everyone to admire.
