Planning a Childs Party
Planning a Childs Party can be stressful if you don't have a plan. There are invitations to make or buy, decorations to create and put up, a cake to be planned on, gifts to buy and themes to decide on.
To make the experience enjoyable for both you and your child, follow these guidelines when organizing their party.
Having raised two children that loved parties. I learned the hard way and fun way some things to do when planning a party.
Stress is not something you want to be dealing with at party time, you want to be enjoying the party!
Invitations:
Rule #1 for Planning a Childs Party:
Do Not invite more children than you can handle. If you can only handle six children at a time, then just invite six.
If you feel that you need to have more children at the party than one person can handle, inlist the help of some volunteer parents, friends or your spouse.
Make invitations if you have the time, buy them if you don't. If your child is old enough, get them involved with making the invitations. They will enjoy helping out.
Mail the invitations out 2-3 weeks before the party. Do not let your child hand the invitaions out at school. You may save postage by doing so, but you risk hurting the feelings of children that weren't invited to the party.
Decorations:
Rule #2 for Planning a Childs Party:
Keep decorations simple.
I have never heard a child say "Wow, you should have seen the decorations they had at the party!". The children will notice the decorations, but they won't judge the success of the party by whats hanging on the wall or from the ceiling.
When trying to come up with decorating ideas, you need to go to the theme of the party. You did pick a theme didn't you? Planning a Childs Party will be so much easier when you have a theme to work with.
If you have a tight budget, you can't go wrong with balloons. You can decorate the room with them, use balloons in party games, and have the kids make party favors with balloons.

Party Games:
Rule #3 for Planning a Childs Party:
Keep games safe and fun.
You will want to have a minimum of six to eight games picked out for the party. You might not use all the party games but you really don't want to be caught shorthanded on things to do with an hour left in the party!
When Planning a Childs Party around a theme, you can easily adopt the classic kids games to the theme. Instead of "simon says" you make it "long john silver says" (if your party is about pirates!)

Party Favors:
Rule #4 for Planning a Childs Party:
Keep it simple.
You don't need to spend a fortune on party favors. Visit your local dollar store to pick up some stickers, coloring books, crayons and small toys.
Food and Drinks:
Rule #5 for Planning a Childs Party:
Stick to regular food.
Now is not the time to try unique and unusual foods.
A cake is a necessity at the party. You don't have to spend a fortune on the cake. Children will eat it as long as its not some funky color or flavor!
Its usually a good idea to have some healthy snacks on hand.
If you are having a party during a lunch hour or dinner hour you would probably want to provide sandwiches or hotdogs for your guests.
Some parents don't allow children to drink soda or pop so you should keep some non carbonated beverages on hand. Use a tub to hold the party drinks to keep your refridgerator from being opened a hundred times during the party!.
