This paper plate turkey can easily be made during one preschool Thanksgiving crafts time period.
2 Brown Paper Plates:
Paint both sides of each plate ahead of time
Glue
Scissors
Wiggle Eyes (2)
Construction Paper:
8-10 strips 1 inch x 12-inch for feathers. A scrap piece of both yellow and red paper.
Assembly Instructions:
1. Cut one paper plate in half and set the other one aside for now.
2. On the back of the paper plate, glue the wiggle eyes near the cut edge of the plate.
3. Fold the yellow scrap paper in half. Holding the folded side towards you, cut out a triangle shape.
Cut or tear the red paper into a skinny oval shape.
4. Glue the wattle (the red piece) to the plate under the eyes. Glue the triangle nose on top of the wattle.
5. Set this half plate aside to dry.
6. Cut each of the 1 inch x 12-inch strips so that one end forms a point.
7. Glue 8-10 of the feathers to the full paper plate making sure to glue them to the front of the plate.
8. Glue or staple the half plate on top of the full plate.
You can add a heavy duty magnet to the back for hanging your turkey plate on the refridgerator or attach a string to hang it on the wall.
Have each family member write down one item they are thankful for and place it in your paper plate turkey to be read during Thanksgiving dinner.
