The first step to creating the party atmosphere is to list everything that you can think of that pertains to Movies and Hollywood. Write down everything that comes to mind even if you think it sounds silly.

movies, film, cameras, lighting, lights, action, red carpet, awards, stars, evening gowns, oscars, best film, best directors, directors chair, spot light, actors, actress amd popcorn.
When creating a theme party atmosphere you can think of the party room as a box. It has a ceiling, four walls and a floor.
The second step to creating a party atmosphere is the decorating list. You use the idea list and start plugging those items into a spot on the decorating list. This list assures that you have decorations in all areas and can also be used as a shopping list for your Movie Party Decorations.

The overall effect that you are trying to create is the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. To get the best effect, you should try to set up most of your Movie Party Decorations in the first room your guests come to when entering your house. Ok, you are probably going to laugh at this next suggestion. Its one of my favorite Movie Party Decorations.To get a shiny glimmery effect in any room you can foil the ceiling. Purchase the widest rolls and the cheapest aluminum foil and cover every inch of the ceiling. The light will reflect off the foil and bring instant glitz to the room.
Hang white twinkle lights all around the ceiling perimeter of the room. You can use chaser lights which are encased in tubing or use regular twinkle type Christmas lights. You want to make the lights bright enough to cast a romantic glow throughout the room so use as many as possible.
Hang glittery starsfrom the ceiling using fishing line. The key to using the stars is hanging tons of them from the ceiling and then using tons of helium filled balloons
. Use stars of various sizes and hang them at alternating heights, you don't want them to hang the same distance from the ceiling. You could also use glow in the dark paint and paint just the outer edges of the stars.
A chandelier can be hung over an existing light fixture, or just added to the center of the room to create a rich atmosphere. The one shown when you follow the link is a really nice three tiered chandelier that comes in gold or silver. The silver one would fit the movie party theme much better than the gold one would.

Glitter star gossamer
A nice item that you can place along the top border of the walls or that you can use at chair rail height is a
mini film roll border This is corregated cardboard that looks like film. You can cut it into small sections and set pieces around on the tables.

A larger version of the film roll border would be fun to hang up as a main feature on a wall. Gather pictures of all your party guests and place one picture behind each opening on the film border. You can make a row that includes each guests' baby picture and have another row with their adult picture and turn it into a guessing game. The person that can match the most pictures together wins a prize.
Hang posters of your favorite actors and actresses on one wall. Hang the posters at angles, don't line them up like soldiers. Having them in a variety of angles will make the wall look more inviting.
Hang movie premier posters on another wall or pictures of oscars and other awards. You can find pictures on the internet and print them out. Hang a movie
clapboard or two with the posters.

Use a Red aisle runnerPut spotlights shining in a criss cross over that walkway.
Use luminaries or strands of white lights at the edges of the red carpet to guide the Movie Stars into the party.

Miscellaneous Movie Party Decorations are things that go on tabletops or that stand alone.Turn a foldable fabric lawn chair into a directors' chair. Safety pin black fabric to it and write the word "Director" on it with white paint.
Place film tin containers
If you have an old movie projector dust it off and have it sitting on a table.
Drag out a few of you DVD's or VHS movies and place them on tables to add some atmospher.
