Making music party is about letting toddlers discover the joys of music and sharing it with their friends.

Music Theme Invitations

An easy music invitation to make is to draw music notes on the front of card stock. Fill in the notes with bright colors.

Make copies of old sheet music. Cut each sheet into fourths. Glue one of the quarter sheets onto the front of card stock.

Easy Music Decorations

Sheet music can be hung from walls, used to decorate party hats or even laminated and used for placemats.

Hang brightly colored streamers from the ceiling and attach musical notes cut from black construction paper on them. You may also be able to attach plastic kazoos to the streamers.

Follow The Leader

Give each toddler a kazoo and let them make their own party music as they march behind you through the house. Every so often make a movement that they need to follow such as lifting one foot to the left, bending over at the waist, turning in a circle or even jumping like a bunny.

Musical Performance

Making music for kids is as simple as filling several glasses with various levels of water and running a damp finger around the rim of the glass. You may also hit the side of the glass with a spoon to make music.

Musical Chairs

A music party wouldn't be complete without a game of musical chairs. Set up two rows of chairs having one less chair then there are guests. Play music or a kazoo! as the toddlers march around the chairs to the music. When the music stops, each toddler tries to sit in a chair. The child left standing is out. Remove a chair and start the music again. Continue until one toddler is sitting in the last chair.

Kids Music Party Cake

Guitar Cake Pan

A guitar shaped cake pan makes creating a music party cake easy. Just bake the cake and frost it. Add strings using licorice strings.

Drum Cupcakes
Bake cupcakes according to package instruction. Allow to cool and then remove the wrappers. Frost the top of the cupcakes with white frosting and the sides with another color. Pipe lines on the sides of the cupcakes to resemble a tom tom drum like the picture at the top of the page.
