Round em up for a Horse Party

Did you know it costs over $2,000 a year to care for a horse? Well this Horse Party isn't going to cost that much! To satisfy your daughters' urging to have her own pony, host a horse theme party instead.

Have all the girls dress up in their favorite cowgirl outfits: Flannel shirts, cowgirl hats, bandannas and boots and lets get the party started.

Horse Party Invitations

Can't draw a horse? Me either. They usually look like tall dogs. Instead of trying to draw a horse, trace one from a coloring book!

Trace the horse onto some card stock and have your daughter color in the picture. You could also send the invitations without coloring in the picture and allow the party guests to color them when they receive them. Have everyone bring them to the party and give prizes for the most creative coloring job.

Buy some inexpensive bandannas and pin the party information to them, send this out to the party guests.

Print out pictures of cowboy hats, cowboy boots, horses or farm scenes and glue onto the front of card stock to make unique party invitations.

Horse Party Decorations

Posters and pictures of horses would look great hanging in the Horse Party area.
Place small toy ponies around the greeting area and on the cake table.
Use a couple of bales of straw for seating. (Place a large throw rug on the ground before setting the bales into place.)

Horse Party Activities

A horse pinata is a quick and easy party game to play. Fill the pinata with wrapped candy and small toys.

To keep your guests busy while everyone is arriving, try giving them a few pictures to color.

Needle in Haystack Game

This game needs to be played outdoors! Lay a tarp on the grass to protect it. Fluff up one or two bales of straw so its a huge pile. Bury small gifts in the pile. On the word "Go" all the girls race to the pile and start digging for the toys. Once they find one, they go sit on a chair. Game continues until all items have been found.

Horse Party Food and Drinks

Horses eat hay and oats. While you can't feed your little guests hay. You can make some great treats to feed them.

Chocolate Oats:
2 Cups Sugar
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Cocoa
1/4 lb Butter
Put all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil for one minute.
Remove from heat and add:
1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
1 tsp Vanilla
3 Cups Quick Oats
Stir well, Drop onto wax paper by the teaspoon.

Haystacks:
Butterscotch chips
Pretzel sticks
Chocolate coated candies (the kind that melt in your mouth, not in your hands)
In a plastic bowl mix together the pretzel sticks and candy. Melt the butterscotch chips and pour over the pretzel sticks. Place onto wax paper and let cool. You can then break the chunks up into little haystacks! Store in a covered plastic dish.
