Elmo Birthday Party

If your toddler loves Sesame Street an Elmo birthday party is a great theme to help you celebrate.

My youngest granddaughter was scared the first time tickle me Elmo fell on the ground laughing. Now she gets the biggest smile on her face and wants to watch him over and over again.

Elmo Birthday Invitations

Cute Elmo invitations can easily be made at home.
You can make two invitations from one sheet of paper.

Fold a sheet of red construction paper in half, short sides together.
Hold the fold towards you and cut the paper in half again.
Cut each of the invitations into a football shape, making sure to leave enough of the fold to hold the invitation together!

Place the fold to your left and glue two wiggle eyes to the center top of the invitations.
Cut a half moon shape from dark blue or black construction paper and glue it in place.
Cut a round nose from orange construction paper and glue it into place. You can also use a large orange pom-pom, I didn't have either of them on hand and chose to color a piece of paper orange.

Elmo birthday party decorations

Bright colored balloons and streamers floating through the party area will add a festive feeling to the party.

One of my favorite ways to make party decorations is to buy an extra table cover. The Elmo Happy Birthday table cover has a center stripe of crayons on a white background with an Elmo design running down the long edges. There are two ways I can use this for party decorations. One way is to remove the Elmo part of the table cover and attach it to the walls or hang it like a banner across the room. The other way is to trim the Elmo design part into 9 x 12 inch rectangles, laminate them between clear contact paper and use as place mats.

Elmo birthday party games

An Elmo pinata makes a fun party activity. Fill a pinata with small trinkets and wrapped candy. Each child holds onto a pull string. On the word "go" they all pull down on the string and the pinata opens and drops the candy.

Birthday Cake Time Fun
Place a bowl filled with party favors in the center of the cake table. Attach a piece of ribbon on each favor with the other end going to each toddlers' place at the table. Let each toddler pull the string to reel in their party favor.

What a fun looking cake.
Almost too cute to eat.

Using a shaped cake pan makes creating beautiful themed birthday cakes easy.

The hardest part is in the frosting of the cake.
Those little stars they show in red frosting take forever to put into place.
If you have time to place them it does look neat when you finish. If you don't have the time, skip the stars and just smooth the red frosting onto the cake.
