Basketball Cake Decorating Instructions
Sports Cakes are fun and this Basketball Cake will have your kids jumping through hoops for you to cut into it

You can build two cakes with one cake mix or put both cakes together to make a thicker basketball.
I liked the single layer cake so there was one for each end of the table.
Basketball Cake
A simple round cake pan, a box of cake mix and some frosting is all you need to put this cake together.

Bake the cake according to the directions on the box. Allow the cake to cool.
Tint all but approximately 1/2 cup of the frosting an orangish red color.
Make the 1/2 cup of frosting as brown as you can.
Frost the cake with the orange frosting.
Put the brown frosting into a plastic baggie. Squish the frosting towards one corner. Cut a small section from the corner of the baggie. (not too wide as this is your "decorating tip" for drawing the lines on the ball.
You can draw guides for the lines using a butter knife before drawing them in with the frosting.
Enjoy your basketball cake.
Fun Basketball Cake Accessories

Color Paste Kit makes tinting your frosting a breeze. Trying to come up with rich colors using ordinary food coloring is almost impossible. If you use food coloring it can also water down your frosting. Try giving this paste coloring a try. You'll love the rich bright colors you can create.

Ring the edge of your cake with these but make sure every slice has one! My mom used to go to decorate a cake only to find I had already eaten the candy!
