Colorful Balloon Party

A balloon party is fun, inexpensive and colorful.

balloons

This party can be put together easily with some basic party supplies.

Use your childs favorite color for all the balloons and decor or use a variety of colors.

Plan on just a few activities for a first birthday and don't try to enforce the rules strictly.
Insisting that toddlers follow step by step instructions is going to stress you out.

Start an activity to get it going in the planned direction, but let it unfold naturally.

You will all be happier in the end.

Party Invitation Ideas

Blow up a balloon but don't tie it. Write the party information onto it using markers, let it dry and then deflate. Mail the balloon in a padded envelope with instructions to inflate for a special surprise.

Cut out 4 or 5 inch balloon shapes from colorful posterboard. Decorate one side with glitter, stickers or markers. Put your party information on the other side

Party Decorations:

A balloon party calls for balloon styled hats! Use twisting balloons to make each guest a party hat.

Crepe paper and curling ribbon can be hung from the ceiling, light fixtures, back of chairs and on the edges of the cake table.

Use the posterboard to make large 12 inch sized or larger balloons. Cut out the shapes and tape to walls and doors.

Balloon Activities:

Balloon Volleyball:
Have parents and toddlers sitting together in a circle. Start with just one air filled balloon and bat it around the circle. You can add two or more balloons for extra fun.

Balloon Art:
Give each parent and child a balloon. Provide theme with markers, stickers, posterboard and glue. Let them decorate the balloons into funny faces.

Balloon Animals:
Make simple balloon animals. Have some fun with this even if all you can make is a snake! The kids will love it.

Party Food and Drinks:

Bake cupcakes and frost in bright colors. Put a small toy on the top.

Frost a single round cake to look like a balloon.

Bake three round cakes and frost each in a different color. Set these onto the backside of a cookie sheet that you've covered in foil. Use rope style licorice to form strings for each cake.
