Astronomy Party Invitation Ideas

astronomy invitation
A fun and easy party invitation to make. See instructions on how this one was made at astronomy birthday invitation.

Making your own invitations for parties can save you a lot of money and they're fun to create.

Use dark blue poster board and draw a constellation that matches the astrology sign of the guest of honor. Use a silver ink pen to draw the constellation and to write the party information. Glow in the dark stickers can also be placed onto the dark blue paper.

Astronomy Decorations

Cut moons, stars and planets from poster board and hang around the party area.

Wrap a variety of balls with foil and hang from the ceiling as the solar system.

If your budget allows you can cover the walls in a room with black plastic or dark blue plastic and place glow in the dark stars onto the plastic.

Astronomy Birthday Party Activities

Take the boys to a planetarium to see the stars. The cost is well worth the experience.
Can't afford to take a group to the planetarium?
Plan an evening party and view the stars from your backyard.
Check this moon phases calculator to make sure there isn't going to be a full moon the evening of the party. And pray for a cloudless night!

Galaxy Run

Supplies Needed:Construction paper, markers, tape and a large wall.
Preparations: Cut one star shape from the construction paper for each guest. Write each players name on a star and tape the stars to a wall or fence in a random pattern.

To Play:
Divide the group into two teams. Have the teams line up far enough from the wall that they can't see which star has their name on it. On "go" the first person in each line runs to the wall and grabs their star runs back to the line, tags the next player who runs and grabs their star. First team to gather their stars, wins.

Astronomy Moon Rock Toss

Materials Needed:
1 bag large marshmallows, 6-8 paper bowls, scissors, tape and a large sheet of poster board.
Preparations:
Cut the bottom off the bowls. Tape or glue the bowls to the poster board in a random pattern with the bottom side up so that they resemble craters. Paint the craters for a fun effect.

To Play:
Mark a spot away from the craters and have the boys line up behind it. Each player takes a turn tossing three moon rocks (marshmallows)into the craters. Award one point for each rock that lands in a crater. Winner is the person with the most points.

Extra Astronomy Party Items

Space coloring book has some fun to color pictures of the space shuttle. This can be used at the start of the party as guests are arriving or printed out and given as a party favor.

Make a rocket from materials found around the house or easily obtained. You could do this at the party, but I'd make the rockets ahead of time as they can take a little while. The printout would be good as a party favor.

To view and use these astronomy party items, you will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer (the latest version is recommended).
You can get your free Adobe Reader here (a new window will open so you can download without leaving this page).
