Airplane Birthday Party

airplanes in flight

Every child is fascinated with airplanes. Heck even I loved building model planes when I was younger.

Satisfy your childs fascination. Host an airplane party he can share with his friends.

Airplane Party Invitations

airplane invitation
This invitation was made by tracing an airplane template onto the front of some card stock and coloring it in. Once it was colored in the outerlines were defined using a black gel pen. Smoke streams were added just for fun. The inside has the party information written into it.

You could also create an invitation with an airplane flying over clouds.
Take a small glass of water, add a drop of dishsoap and some blue food coloring. Blow into the glass with a straw to create bubbles. Dip the card front lightly onto the bubbles and lift back up. Dip again if you want more coloring on the card. When the color dries add an airplane sticker or draw the airplane using the template.

Airplane Birthday Party Decorations

Hang airplanes from the ceiling or light fixture over the party table.

Hang posters and pictures of airplanes on the walls. Use removable tape and you can give the posters to the guests at the end of the party.

Airplane Birthday Party Activities

A trip to an Airforce museum would be fun for the boys. They can see all types of airplanes and artifacts. You may even be able take pictures of the boys sitting in the pilot seat of one.

Pilots Land Your Planes

Materials Needed:
One airplane per guest (foam glider* or paper airplane)
Poster board
Marker or Masking tape

Preparations:
Use the marker or masking tape to make a runway on the poster board. The runway can be placed on the floor or on a table.
Assemble the foam gliders or fold a paper airplane for each guest.

To Play:
Each pilot gets a chance to land their airplane safely onto the runway.
Guests keep their paper airplane or glider as a party favor.

Paratrooper Drop

Materials Needed:
One Paratrooper* or Plastic Army man per guest.
Poster Board Target

Preparations:
Unwrap the army men and make sure the parachutes are attached.
Draw a target onto poster board. Use a drinking glass for the center circle, and a dinner plate to draw an outer circle.

To Play:
Announce that the pilots have to bail out of their airplanes. If you land on the target you are safe, if you land off target you end up in the water with sharks.

One pilot at a time tosses their paratrooper at the target to see who can get the closest.
Boys keep the paratrooper as a party favor.

Box Airplanes

Have a large box for each guest. Cut the top and bottoms off the box. Each pilot steps into their airplane box and can fly around the backyard or house.

Divide the boys into two teams and have a relay race!

* You can find foam gliders and paratroopers for your airplane birthday party at your local dollar store or in the Carnival Prizes & Novelties section at Oriental Trading.
