Sit Down Casual Dinner Party:
A casual gathering of friends is much more relaxing than a sit down formal dinner. You can still do a dinner party but make the atmosphere relaxed, you'll have way less stress and way more fun!

Carolling Party:
Provide Christmas lyrics and carol around your neighborhood. Gather back at your house for snacks and coffee. You could also caravan to a different neighborhood.

Gift Wrapping Party:
This one is fun for mothers and fathers that have children who love to walk in while you are wrapping gifts. Send the kids to a friends house to play for the afternoon. Have everyone gather at your house with presents in tote for an afternoon of laughter and wrapping. Serve snacks and drinks.

Help The Needy Party:
Ask friends to bring a new gift or toy for a local charity as admission into your party. Have them mark the outside of the present boy, girl, adult male, or adult female. You can check with your local hospital to see if they would allow you to go caroling in the rooms. Go caroling when you drop off the donations.

Party Decorations

The great thing about hosting a Christmas party is that you have or will be decorating your house for the holiday anyway. Let the decorations server double duty.

Candles in groups of 3,5 and 7 will always look better than just one. Stagger the height of the candles in the grouping. Place small ball ornaments around the base or use pieces of greenery.

Centerpieces can easily be made with bowls or baskets. Just fill with round ornaments of the same color or fill with pine cones and greenery.
A tall vase can be filled with small red berries or small ornaments.

Boughs of fresh cut greens can be decorated with a bow and set onto tables or hung on walls. The smell of fresh pine just can't be beat. Well maybe by gardenias!

Poinsettias are inexpensive and come in more than just red and white! The trend of painting poinsettias was started a couple years ago, you can now find them in blue, purple, yellow and orange! Place one or two in the guest bathroom, on the mantle, or tucked into bookcases.

Adult Christmas Party Food and Drinks

Wine, Soda (pop),Water and Beer are all fine to serve. It depends on what your circle of friends typically drink.

Meatballs are quick and easy to make. Buy a bag of pre cooked meatballs and a large jar of brown gravy. Put the meatballs into a pot and toss in the gravy. Heat until the gravy boils. These are so easy and disappear so quickly!

Cheese Trays are another quick and easy to make party item. Make your own with block cheeses. Monterey Jack or marbled cheese along with Mild Cheddar always seem to be a big hit. Cut the blocks into strips 1" wide and then cut again to make small blocks.
