1970s Party

A 1970s Party. Disco was king and the bump wasn't a car accident! This was a decade with economic hardships but people had still managed to have a lot of fun.

The game Pong was very popular. A cool game called Simon hit the market. I can still remember begging my Dad for one and him having a hard time finding it.
Pet Rocks of all things, were flying off the store shelves. People stood in line for hours to watch the movie Star Wars and talked about it for weeks afterwards.

It is a year worth revisiting for a party.

Invitation Ideas

Send little disco ball key chains to your guests. Attach the party information to the key chain.

Make your own invitation cards in the shape of vinyl records. Write "Get Down Tonight" on the front and add the rest of the party information to the inside.

Send pet rocks to your friends. Gather and clean some small stones from your yard. Put them into Chinese food take out boxes along with a note containing your party information.

Disco Party Atmosphere

Set up an area in your house for a dance party.
Hang a disco ball from the ceiling or set up one of those desktop rotating lights.

Hang multi-colored Christmas light strands along the corners of the room.

Bean bag chairs were popular, you can use them for seating.

Provide each guest with a smiley face button and a mood ring and make sure they wear them for the whole night. Anyone caught without them has to perform a disco move.

Order in Pizza for the party. Serve quick and easy to fix foods.
