Dust off your poodle skirts.
Invitation IdeasMake your own invitations with black card stock. Cut round shapes to resemble 45 rpm records. Glue yellow or white circular card stock to the center. Add party information to the inside.Send a clean pair of socks to each guest with a note attached inviting them to your sock hop.
Party AtmosphereHave guests dress the part: Guys wear their hair slicked back with grease and rolled up jeans with white t-shirts and leather jackets. Girls wear ponytails, poodle skirts, sweaters and scarves.
Decorate the room to look like a soda shop.
ActivitiesHave a dance contest giving prizes to the couple that can remember the most dance moves from the fifties.Hula hoops and Silly Putty are two toys that were introduced in the fifties. Have a hula hoop contest. It's not as easy as you remember! Silly putty will make a fun take home gift for your guests. Have a few eggs sitting around the party area and encourage your guests to play a little. Food and DrinksServe hamburgers, fries and soda.Fountain glasses can usually be found at grocery stores, but if you need a supplier try this company: Check with restaraunt supply companies for trays to serve your french fries in. Use the plastic red and yellow condiments bottles for ketchup and mustard. And don't forget those flexible straws for your soda!
